The Motivation Behind Dieting - For Women In Todays Society

By: Lucy Evans

Fashion icons like Paris Hilton make popular, designer items and many trends, leaving people craving smaller, thinner bodies of their own to fit in petite gowns. The upshot of this is that they must get active and lose weight in order to fit in these smart designer gowns. Girls today see being thin as a vessel to belonging in today's world and in their own cliques. Falling dress sizes and extreme dieting is very bad and needs to be correctly managed from day one because of the risks of extreme dieting with long term health issues.

One of the first things you need to take when dieting to lose weight is to study what you want from it. Scheduling is a main ingredient to losing weight because this is what helps with building up your motivation. Consequently before starting any weight loss program, take a pen and paper and write down some key points that you can successfully achieve. A good start is weighing yourself, recording the weight down and then setting 7 day targets of 1-2kilos or monthly targets of 8-10lbs.

Exercising is not compulsory but it can help by increasing the process of weight loss, resulting in a healthy approach, if you are working off the body fat and keeping your muscles and organs working. So if you enjoy dancing, running or jogging, start doing this for a little bit a day, or take up new hobbies such as squash, badminton or wrestling. If you're not the exercise type or are self conscious of exercising in public then try using a treadmill or a rowing machine in the comfort of your own home.

Why not spoil yourself to a new dress or DVD, for the demanding work you have put in. After meeting a few of your short term goals, treat oneself or you may lose motivation and longing to carry on, which won't help with meeting your targets. Even the infrequent naughty treat won't harm, as long as it helps you to refocus on losing the weight and reaching the targets. It would most definitely be worth it to keep you moving towards your goals and help you to find the newer, more energetic you!

Primarily we diet to look good and feel confident. Lots of people lose weight in the spring time and this is for several reasons. Firstly, after the Christmas period they may have gained a few extra pounds that they want to lose but mainly because they want to prepare themselves for their summer holidays where they will be sunbathing on the beach, in a bikini, or a pair of swim shorts. The thought of many of people seeing you in a vulnerable state will make you want to look the best you can, so diet and exercise play a major part in this.

After the difficult work, the thought of fitting into the gown or items that you couldn't before can help to increase your confidence and make a better you - this is why we lose weight and do it.
