Headache And Migraine Aid Through Self-Hypnosis CD's

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Even though the brain itself does not have nerves to feel pain, other parts of the skull such as the scalp, face, mouth and throat have pain-sensitive nerve fibers, which can hurt. Headache - or cephalgia - ordinarily refers to any sort of pain that one could feel in these sensitive parts of the skull.

Headaches can be divided into two groups: Primary headaches, to which stress headache, cluster headache and migraine headache belong and which are not caused by any disorder; And Secondary headaches which are due to another condition.

Headaches are the most usual condition of the nervous system. Everyone will suffer from them at least once in their lifetime, but for 55 million Americans, it is a recurring thing. According to the World Health Organization, one adult in 20 suffers from recurrent headaches, with women being more at risk than men.

Headaches can be extremely disabling and might be detrimental to the people who have to go through them. Work capacity is lessened for those people, which can negatively affect their economic situation.

The ability to socialize is also diminished as the pain, or the fear thereof, sometimes makes people more ill-humored. Some people who have migraine even have to consistently be careful about what they eat, what they see, and even what they smell, as some strong or displeasing sensations may be hurtful.

Because headaches are seen as such a common, harmless condition, people who experience them on a regular basis also have to face the incomprehension of their peers. This social barrier may also deter people from getting the attention of a doctor and looking for the treatment they need. However before being treated, your headache has to be "identified".

We have already seen that there were two particular kinds of headache: Primary and Secondary, each divided in turn into several other subtypes. Their symptoms may vary as well as their causes and, naturally, the way they can be cured. This is why they need to be effectively identified by a physician so that you can receive appropriate treatment.

Stress headache, also referred to as tension headache, is the most usual type of primary headache and accounts for about 90% of headaches. It is usually considered related to stress or related to musculoskeletal problems in the neck.

Tension headache is usually episodic and may last from several minutes to several hours, but might last for numerous days in the most severe cases. It is commonly described as a strong steady pressure, generally on each side of the head, or spreading around it, from time to time also affecting the neck.

Migraine is relatively different and is believed to almost certainly have a genetic basis. Migraines are caused by the release by the brain of painful substances, which spread to the nerves and vessels in the head. Migraine most often happens on a monthly basis and lasts for a few hours, with corollary symptoms like nausea and intolerance of normal degrees of light and sound.

Cluster headaches generally occur frequently and do not last long. They are also extremely painful. They occur in clusters of 6 to 12 weeks every one or two years, generally at the same time of the year. The pain is excessively intense and affects the entire head, usually starting with the eye, and then affecting the forehead, nose and mouth. It is much more uncommon than other kinds of headache and primarily affects men.

Headaches are typically cured using over-the-counter pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. A doctor could also tell you to avoid some usual causes of headaches like noise or some sorts of foods.

Caffeine, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 have also shown to be effective in order to treat migraine. Drugs are however expensive and may have undesired side effects, especially for people who must take them on a daily basis. This is why you might want to consider a different way of avoiding the various kinds of headache.

Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) have indeed shown to be working and can help you to eliminate pain in any part of your body, including your head, as well as trying to be more relaxed meanwhile. Stress is a very common cause of headache, and adequate hypnotic methods exist to eliminate both stress and headaches in a few seconds.

People who suffer from migraine or cluster headache are generally able to feel the first symptoms before the pain really happens, and could learn self-hypnosis techniques to abort them before they become too painful. Hypnotists who understand how disabling a headache can be have developed these techniques.

Self Hypnosis is a drug free method of treatment that will help you to find the relief you are looking for. Headache is a serious condition with various variations, affecting millions of people throughout the world. Learn to overcome it and to relax with the soothing method of self-hypnosis.
